The Map Thing was conceived and developed by club member and former webmaster Dan Barrett. It's an exceptional tool for paddle trip planning, containing several valuable resources that normally would require visiting multiple websites to obtain the same information. WAKE is grateful for Dan's permission to feature The Map Thing on our website. Thanks, Dan!

General Instructions:  Use the map and select the locations for which you want information.  Please note the horizonal scroll bar at the bottom of the page and use it to widen the display.

The "Details" tab will open helpful information, if available, on the location chosen.  Users are encouraged to contact the Webmaster to provide edits or additional, useful information to this feature!

"Tides" will provide both a simple read-out and a graphic display of the tidal cycle for that location for a 3 day period, starting on the day the user inputs the request.  For tide cycles in the future, use the "Customize" tab.

The "Customize" tab is a powerful tool that enables users to specify location and dates for retrieval of information.

"Search" will assist users in locating specific locations on the map.  However, the user does need to know the location name in advance.

Finally, "Help" contains more detailed instructions and hints on how to make full use of The Map Thing.
